Clan Feud: The Enlightenment Expansion

In the 16th century England had two universities. Meanwhile, Scotland was home to six: St Andrews (established 1413), Glasgow (1451), King's College Aberdeen (1495), Edinburgh (1592), Fraserburgh (1592) and Marischal College Aberdeen (1593). These seats of learning were both status symbols for the Scottish lords that patroned them, and sources of knowledge to gain the upper hand in their ongoing clan feuds!

With the Enlightenment expansion, each player can place a new university building on the game board using any LVL Build action, and gain a new orange dice. The orange dice can be assigned to the player board as normal - or a university on the game board. When assigned to a university, the player gains an innovation card - which grants permanent, passive bonuses as long as they control at least one university building on the game board - and also increases their research track, which is used to score extra victory points at the end of the game. But there is risk - if you assign an orange dice to the game board, other players can capture that dice if they conquer the territory!

The Enlightenment Expansion adds:

  • 5 university buildings

  • 5 orange dice

  • 40 innovation cards

  • 20 actions cards

  • 1 event card

  • 5 marker tiles
